127th ARG Returns Home
After an approximately month-long deployment in support of operations in the Pacific Command Area of Responsibility, Airmen of the 127th Air Refueling Group return home to Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., April 3, 2012. During the deployment, the Airmen operated KC-135 Stratotankers, including the one they returned home on, to allow U.S. and allied air power to operate with a global reach. About 60 Airmen from the 127th ARG participated in the deployment, which included some Airmen operating from the island of Guam and others assigned to a base in Alaska. Another dozen or so Airmen of the 127th ARG are currently deployed to the Central Command Area of Responsibility, as part of an ongoing rolling mobilization for the unit that is expected to last at least through the remainder of 2012. The campground at the Helemano Plantation in central Oahu is composed of several guest cabins, an activities pavilion, a staff cabin, and a storage shed. Personnel from 127th Civil Engineering Squadron aided in cabin construction by priming and painting building exteriors and interiors, installing drywall and insulation, and a myriad of other tasks that helped the campground’s progress. 127th CES Humanitarian Work in Hawaii
Lt. Col. Stephen Ward, commander of the 127th Civil Engineering Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., rolls a first layer of paint on the ceiling of the future pavilion and activities building at the Helemano Plantation’s campground in central Oahu, Hawaii. Ward, who was in charge of 36 Selfridge personnel on the trip, stood on construction stilts to paint efficiently. The campground, which is projected to be finished by 2010, will be completely handicapped accessible and open for public use.
