127th CES Humanitarian Work in Hawaii
Lt. Col. Stephen Ward, commander of the 127th Civil Engineering Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., rolls a first layer of paint on the ceiling of the future pavilion and activities building at the Helemano Plantation’s campground in central Oahu, Hawaii. Ward, who was in charge of 36 Selfridge personnel on the trip, stood on construction stilts to paint efficiently. The campground, which is projected to be finished by 2010, will be completely handicapped accessible and open for public use. Revenues will benefit the community’s elderly, mentally disabled, and economically disadvantaged citizens. (USAF photo by SrA. Anna-Marie Wyant)
