MARE at SANGB
Selfridge Air National Gdard Base firefighters quickly respond to and recover victims during a major accident response exericse held at the base on July 22, 2014. The exercise scenario included an airplane crash with multiple injuries on the ground and showed how an incident can get complex quickly. Rapid Intervention Vehicle
The turret attached to the front bumper of the P-34 Rapid Intervention Vehicle, a firefighting vehicle, uses new ultra high pressure firefighting technology, is one of the assets Selfridge Air National Guard Base will use for emergency response. The RIV discharges 100 gallons of firefighting agent per minute at 1,350 pounds per square inch at a range of 100 feet, and performs 3.5 times more effectively than conventional firerfighting vehicles. Fred C. Nelson is seen in a German Fokker biplane, circa 1920. Nelson, who retired as an Air Force colonel in 1950, made a name as a pilot at several air shows during the years between World War I and World War II. Recruit takes oath in courtroom
Torrey Gray is sworn in as a new recruit in the Michigan Air National Guard by 1st Lt. Robert McLean in the courtroom of Circuit Court Judge Daniel Hathaway in Detroit, July 15, 2014. Gray was sworn in at the court so that his mother, Tonya Gray, a Wayne County Sheriff’s deputy who works at the court, could watch her son take the oath of office.
