Recruit takes oath in courtroom

Torrey Gray is sworn in as a new recruit in the Michigan Air National Guard by 1st Lt. Robert McLean in the courtroom of Circuit Court Judge Daniel Hathaway in Detroit, July 15, 2014. Gray was sworn in at the court so that his mother, Tonya Gray, a Wayne County Sheriff’s deputy who works at the court, could watch her son take the oath of office. Tonya Gray is also a member of the Michigan Army National Guard. McLean is the commander of the 107th Weather Flight at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., where Torrey Gray will serve as a member of the 127th Force Support Squadron.
