First A-10 deployment
Pilots of the 107th Fighter Squadron step to the A-10s that they will deploy in as part of "Operation Demons to DM" on Saturday, January 9. After just six months of flying the A-10 mission from Selfridge Air National Guard Base, the 107th's "Red Devils" along with approximately 120 maintenance and support personnel, deployed to Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz. There, the Michigan Guardsmen will take advantage of the ideal weather conditions to increase training tempos to prepare to upcoming missions in support of global operations.

Kid Rock ends tour for troops through SANGB
Kid Rock and his entourage ended their Tour for the Troops on Saturday, Dec. 12, flying back to the U.S. through Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich. The tour, which lasted about 10 days, had the AF Reserves escorting the rocker and a handful of other celebrities, including singer/songwriter Jessie James and comedian Carlos Mencia to military installations in England, Germany and Turkey, as well as bases in Southwest Asia. Airmen of the 127th Security Force Squadron and the 127th Logistics Readiness Squadron assisted with customs checks and the unloading of pallets of luggage, musical instruments and stage equipment. Donations to help military families
Chief Petty Officer Stacy Dasher, Coast Guard Air Station Detroit, carries one of many boxes of comfort kits that were donated to military members and their families facing upcoming deployments at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan, on Nov. 30. The Masons, a well-known fraternity dedicated to life enhancement, donated a $100,000 grant for over a four year period to the American Red Cross which will be used to assist members of the armed forces and their families.
