Heritage Run
Members of the 127th Force Support Squadron head out on a heritage fitness run at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., Sept. 10, 2011. The Airmen ran to several locations around the base, where they performed exercises and heard a short report on the history of the base and key figures in Air Force history who have served at Selfridge. The base is known as “The Home of Generals” because of the large number of future generals who served at the base early in its history. The base is named for Thomas E. Selfridge, an U.S. Army officer who was killed in a 1908 crash while flying with Orville Wright of the Wright Brothers – the first military person to lose his life in an aircraft accident.
