While the taxiways at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., are undergoing routine maintenance, the Michigan Air National Guard was able to utilize the nearby airport in Detroit – popularly known as City Airport -- as the 127CES Airmen were traveling to Maine for a training deployment. The availability of the Detroit airport to use as an alternate site provides significant flexibility to the Michigan Air National Guard.
