Chinook Hangar 1416
A CH-47, Chinook, is parked inside Hangar 1416, the new home to Detachment 1, Bravo Co. 3-328th Aviation Regiment, at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. The Michigan Army National Guard unit has been stationed at SANGB for a short time, making due with smaller facilities after a lengthy deployment. The new hangar is roughly one-third larger than their old facility, and will allow for all 4 of the unit's aircraft to be housed together in one location with better weather protection and maintenance operations. Coast Guard Salutes Army at Selfridge
A group of U.S. Army CH-47 Chinook helicopters fly in formation as they fly over U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Detroit on Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., in December 2011. The Coast Guard, which flies the HH-65 Dolphin helicopter at Air Station Detroit, is located near the Michigan Army National Guard’s Aviation Support Facility #2, also at Selfridge. The soldiers of the 3-238th General Support Aviation Battalion were departing Selfridge for a year-long deployment to Afghanistan. The Coast Guard personnel at the Air Station stood in formation and rendered a salute to the Army air unit as the soldiers departed the base.
