Welcome Home Hero Salute at SANGB
A "Welcome Home Hero Salute" held on July 18 at Selfridge Air National Guard Base included airmen of the 127th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, the 127th Maintenance Squadron, the 127th Maintenance Group, The 127th Maintenance Operations Flight, the 127th Civil Engineer Squadron, and the 127th Medical Group. The event commemorated 127th Wing Citizen-Airmen for their service while deployed for more than 30 consecutive days for Operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom and all other contingency operations. HAZMAT Response
The 127th Wing, Michigan Air National Guard, participated in a week-long joint emergency management training exercise called Vigilant Guard 2010. On Tuesday, June 15, after reports of suspicious packages being sent through the mail, 127th Security Forces personnel evacuated facilities while the Selfridge ANG Base Fire Department HAZMAT team responded to search for and rescue mock victims of a possible anthrax contamination. Robot Trot
On June 10, the Robotic Systems Joint Project Office at Selfridge Air National Guard Base held their second annual Robot Trot. The 5K race hosted 172 runners; several runners also competed to qualify for the Army 10-Miler to be held in Washington D.C. later this year. The run was sponsored by Hanson's Running Shop in Utica, Absopure Water, Pepperidge Farms, All American Screenprinting, Central Macomb Community Credit Union and FMWR. Plans are in the works for a larger run again next year.
