Master Sgt. Joe Lapinta and Major Donald Davenport are seen on the flight deck of a KC-135 Stratotanker as the two run through pre-flight procedures while on the ground in Cape Verde, Dec. 9, 2015. Lapinta is a boom operator and Davenport is a pilot, both with the 171st Air Refueling Squadron. The Michigan National Guard has a State Partnership for Peace agreement with Liberia and members of the Michigan National Guard make periodic trips to and from Liberia to support the partnership.
