Soldiers work on a Nike missile on the flight line at what was then Selfridge Air Force Base in Harrison Township, Mich. The photo was likely taken some time in the mid-1950s. At the time, three different missile battery locations were operated by the Army at Selfridge. Those familiar with Selfridge should recognize the scene with the Base Operations Building and Hangar 7 clearly visible in the background, though the hangars have since been re-numbered. The aircraft immediately behind the missile are C-46 Commando transport. Photo courtesy of the Selfridge Air Museum
