Prior to serving as the commander of all air operations first in Europe and later in the Pacific during World War II, Lt. Gen. Frank M. Andrews served as the commander of the famed 1st Pursuit Squadron at what was then known as Selfridge Field. A street at the base is named in honor of Andrews. (US Air Force photo)
