Captain Lisa Platz holds the flag of the 127th Communications Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., March 13, 2011. Platz assumed command of the squadron during a formal ceremony, which included her holding the flag aloft in front of the squadron as part of an ancient military tradition to symbolize her role as the squadron’s commander.
