MSgt. Terry Atwell holds a cigarette lighter that he gave to his late father, Harold Atwell, in 1976. The lighter features the insignia of the USS Yosemite, a Navy destroyer on which the younger Atwell was serving as part of the crew at the time. The lighter was lost in a field sometime prior to 1994 when Harold Atwell died. A stranger recently found the lighter and returned it to the son, sparking a flood of memories. Atwell holds the lighter in his office at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., Oct. 2, 2012. (Air National Guard photo by John S. Swanson)
