The 127th Wing began inoculating Airmen with the COVID-19 vaccine at Selfridge Air National Guard Base on Friday, Jan. 8. More than 60 personnel at the base, primarily Security Forces and medical personnel, were in the first wave to receive the shots, administered by the Wing’s medics.

Thirteen Citizen-Airmen from the Michigan Air National Guard were assigned to the location April 17, 2020 and ready to support COVID-19 drive-through testing alongside CVS only three days later. Airmen support FEMA
Staff Sgt. Bill Humbree and Senior Airman Mathew Shaver, and additional members of the 127th Wing, assemble hospital beds at the TCF Center in Detroit, Michigan. A team of ten citizen Airmen from the 127th Wing at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, joined approximately twenty other Michigan National Guard members to assist the Federal Emergency Management Agency in creating a Federal Medical Station at the TCF Center. The 1,000-bed facility is intended to assist local healthcare facilities in receiving COVID-19 patients.

Jordan Kaminski, a boom operator, all of the 171st Air Refueling Squadron, here, have been nominated for the 2020 Air Force’s Clarence Mackay Trophy after successfully completing a lifesaving aeromedical evacuation mission between Jan. 25 and Feb. 2, 2020. Along with aircrew members of the Alaska Air National Guard and active duty medical evacuation team members who also supported the mission, the team saved a U.S. Navy diver after the patient suffered a traumatic brain injury.
