Approximately 650 civilians and military technicians employed by the 127th Wing are furloughed due to the federal government shutdown, which began Oct. 1. Approximately 150 active duty military personnel who are part of the 127th Wing remain on duty.

The 127th Wing is the host unit at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Despite the shutdown, the Wing's Security Forces Squadron, Fire Department and other critical personal will continue to provide services to the base.

The 127th Wing's Oct. 5-6, 2013, Unit Training Assembly, commonly referred as "drill weekend," has been cancelled. The Wing's roughly 1,000 traditional Air National Guard will be contacted in the future about possible re-scheduling of the UTA.

All 127th Wing flying operations are cancelled for the duration of the shutdown, though the base's airfield may still be used for some limited, critical operations, such as search and rescue.

The Selfridge Commissary is closed for the duration of the shutdown, though the Selfridge Base Exchange, which is not funded by government appropriations, will remain in operation.

Information for 127th Wing personnel will be passed via their military chain of command as it becomes available. Personnel may also call the Selfridge Base Information Hotline at 586-239-4521 for updates.
