As the only optometry technician in the 127th Medical Group, Senior Airman Aalona Chandler meets almost everybody at Selfridge sooner or later.

I appreciate all the diversity we have in this wing," Chandler said. "You meet people from all walks of life."

Chandler provides visual acuity and color perception exams for Airmen, to ensure they are ready to deploy as needed.

Chandler said being in the Air National Guard has given him a leg up in his civilian career as a medical laboratory technician. Chandler is also a student at Ashford University in Ohio.

"Airman Chandler is terrific to work with," said Lt. Col. Dr. Nelson Edwards. "He's ambitious and very hard working."
