Leaders named for Selfridge Enlisted Heritage House

SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich. -- Chief Master Sgt. Wayne Fetty from the 127th Maintenance Group will preside as president of the Enlisted Heritage House at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

Fetty will spearhead the refurbishment of building 409, which is also known as the Generals House, on the base. The purpose of the heritage house is to enhance, capture and preserve the enlisted heritage of the 127th Wing members, along with preserving one of the historical buildings at Selfridge.

The executive board members are as follows, Staff Sgt. Kyle Kelly from the 191st Maintenance Squadron as vice president; Master Sgt. Ninette LeRay from the 127th Command Post as secretary; Staff Sgt. Matthew Sellers, 127th Mission Support Group as treasurer; and Senior Master Sgt. Brian Henke of the 127th Operations Group, trustee.

Kelly said he is looking forward to working as the organization's vice president.

"Selfridge has a proud heritage" Kelly said. "I think it's great to build something for the base and provide history for future and current enlisted members."

The heritage house is intended to be used for meetings and gatherings that relate to enlisted issues.

About the 127th Wing
Comprised of approximately 1,700 personnel and flying both the A-10 Thunderbolt II and the KC-135 Stratotanker, the Michigan Air National Guard's 127th Wing supports Air Mobility Command and Air Combat Command operations by providing highly-skilled Airmen to missions domestically and overseas. The 127th Wing is the host unit at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, which marks its 98th year of continuous military air operations in 2015.

About Selfridge Air National Guard Base
One of the oldest military air fields in continuous service, the military first took possession of Selfridge Air National Guard Base on July 1, 1917. The first military flight at the base took place on July 8 and formal flight operations began on July 16, 1917. Today the 127th Wing of the Michigan Air National Guard is the host unit at the base, which also houses units of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection.
