CSM Hudson visits Selfridge
Command Sergeant Major David R. Hudson, Senior Enlisted Leader to the Chief, National Guard Bureau (left) met with Brigadier General Michael Peplinski, 127th Wing commander, during a quick visit to Selfridge Air National Guard Base January 29.
Command Sgt Major Hudson met with a small group of soldiers and airmen during the Selfridge visit and encouraged the Army and Air Guard enlisted ranks to get to know one another. "I challenge you all to know each other, know who you'll be standing shoulder to should with in the event of a community crisis," he said. "Make an effort to know each other's ranks and specialties; and never forget that what makes us special as guardmen is what we are prepared to do for our state, our TAGs (The Adjutant Generals), and our governors."
The CSM, responsible for advising the Chief, National Guard Bureau on enlisted affairs of the 457,000 Soldiers and Airmen of the Army and Air National Guard, was given a tour of the more than 3000 acres of Selfridge and briefed about the joint reserve/Guard nature of the historic air base. CSM Hudson's stop in southeast Michigan will be followed by a visit to Ft. Custer and Battle Creek ANG Base to visit soldiers and airmen there prior to his speaking at senior enlisted ceremony for Michigan's Army National Guard on Saturday night.
