Currently, the Selfridge Base Community Council is offering its second $1000 scholarship through the Sterling Heights Community Foundation to a child of a servicemember attached to the base.

"The Base Community Council has a long history of commitment and devotion to our military personnel and their families for the sacrifices they make every day to ensure and safeguard the future of our country," said Community Foundation Secretary John Bozymowski, who helped BCC members establish the scholarship fund in 2008.  "The Sterling Heights Community Foundation is very proud to be a part of this program to improve the quality of life of our military personnel through a scholarship of this type."

The Sterling Heights Community Foundation and its scholarship partners are offering a combined total of 20 scholarships totaling $14,500 for college bound high school seniors and current students living in Sterling Heights or Macomb County and who plan to pursue general studies, technical training programs, engineering or chiropractic health care.  The scholarships have an application deadline of Friday, March 19, to include the Selfridge ANG/Base Community Council Scholarship, which will award two (2) $1,000 scholarships to a child of military personnel attached to the base.  Applicants must be graduating seniors or college students with a GPA of at least 3.2 and be able to demonstrate strong community involvement.
