Selfridge Plans Air Show Aug. 20-21 Published Jan. 27, 2011 By TSgt. Dan Heaton 127th Public Affairs SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich. -- The 2011 Selfridge Air Show and Open House will be Aug. 20-21. The biennial show is free and features flying demonstrations from military and civilian aircraft, as well as ground displays featuring equipment and technology from a variety of military and federal agencies. "The Air Show and Open House is an opportunity for the Selfridge community to invite our neighbors to learn more about the mission and capabilities of the Air National Guard and our partners in both the Dept. of Defense and Dept. of Homeland Security," said Lt. Col. Sean Campbell, air show director. "The men and women of Team Selfridge have greatly appreciated the support of the surrounding community for many, many years." Additional information on the Air Show, including a list of scheduled flying performers, will be released as the show dates draw closer. The host unit for the Air Show is the 127th Wing, which is a component of the Michigan Air National Guard. The 127th flies the KC-135 Stratotanker aerial refueler and the A-10 Thunderbolt II, a close air support attack aircraft.
