Several activities are in the works for young people who are connected to Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

Several agencies are working together to support a Kid's & Family Run event on May 19 at the base. The event, in celebration of Armed Forces Day, will include a 1-mile run/walk for kids and a 2.5-mile run/walk for families. Other activities will also be going on during the run/walk for children to participate in. The day's events will begin with an opening ceremony at 10 a.m.

The event is $6 per person and includes a t-shirt, water bottle and goody bag. It is open to all ages. Pre-registration is going on now at www.americaskidsrun.org

The Clinton-Macomb Area Military Family Support Forum offers monthly meetings and information sessions for military spouses, significant others, children and parents. The meetings are noon-2 p.m. Saturdays May 19, June 23 and July 28. The meetings allow family members a chance to connect with other military families and provides information on services and programs available in the area. The meetings include a program of activities for children and lunch is provided. The meetings are held at the Base Chapel at Selfridge. Registration is requested at krharris@umich.edu.

Club Beyond, a youth group of military high school and middle school students meets on a regular basis on the base for a variety of both fun activities and service projects. The group is planning on a rafting and camping trip June 22-24. The group, which is sponsored by Youth for Christ Military Youth Ministries, meets every Monday evening at the base chapel.
