Marine Movement at Selfridge
Marines from the 1st Battalion 24th Marines prepare to depart their home station of Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., on Aug. 4, 2015. The Marines participated in a training exercise at the USMC Mountain Warfare Training Center in southern California. Nearly 300 Marines departed Selfridge for the training, moving on six USMC C-130 Hercules tactical airlift aircraft. The Michigan Air National Guard’s Small Air Terminal flight at Selfridge helped to facilitate the move, loading 10 pallets of equipment for transport on the C-130s for the Marines. Many Michigan-based military units utilize the capabilities of the Small Air Terminal facility at Selfridge to facilitate major troop and equipment movement.
