Selfridge traffic patterns to change Published Feb. 21, 2014 By 127th Public Affairs SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich. -- Drivers on the grounds of Selfridge Air National Guard Base should be watchful of new traffic patterns taking effect at the end of the month. Birch and Wagner Avenues, the one-way streets on either side of the Base Dining Facility, will change direction in order to better accommodate ongoing Air Force missions at the base on Monday, February 24. The one-way street east of the dining facility (Wagner St.) will become northbound, accessible from Wilbur Wright. The one-way street west of the dining facility (Birch St.) will become southbound, accessible from George Avenue. This change also affects the traffic half-circle in front of Base Operations. Cars travelling through or parking in front of Base Operations (building 50) will be entering south, parking facing east in front of the building (commander, distinguished visitor, and transient crews only), and exiting northbound. Those driving on Selfridge also must adhere to the base policy which prohibits the use of cellular devices without hands free capability while driving on the installation. Drivers can be ticketed for this offense which also includes texting while operating a motor vehicle.
