Selfridge Marines Conduct Training Published Aug. 13, 2015 127th Wing Public Affairs SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich. -- Marines from the 1st Battalion 24th Marines prepare to depart their home station of Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., on Aug. 4, 2015. The Marines participated in a training exercise at the USMC Mountain Warfare Training Center in southern California. Nearly 300 Marines departed Selfridge for the training, moving on six USMC C-130 Hercules tactical airlift aircraft. The Michigan Air National Guard's Small Air Terminal flight at Selfridge helped to facilitate the move, loading 10 pallets of equipment for transport on the C-130s for the Marines. Many Michigan-based military units utilize the capabilities of the Small Air Terminal facility at Selfridge to facilitate major troop and equipment movement.
