Air Show Information

The Selfridge Air Show and Open House is this weekend.  Gates open at 8 a.m. and traffic will be allowed to come into the base until 2 p.m.  Flying is scheduled from approximately 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  The event is free to the public and includes free parking at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

Friday night's Hangar Party and Open Air Concert features rocker Eddie Money as the main event.  Opening the event at 8 p.m. is WXYZ-Channel 7 newsman Stephen Clark performing his brand of country music.  Tickets are $10 for the concert (free for active miltary and military retirees) and are available at www.selfridgeairshow.org.  Print out your receipt as your ticket for entry onto the base through Selfridge's main gates at Jefferson and M-59.   The event will also include a fireworks display and a small twilight air show.

Visitors to the Selfridge Air Show should be prepared to be in the sun and hot weather for long periods of time and bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and appropriate lightweight clothing.  If  coming to the show with a group, pick an identifiable location as a meeting place should you be separated or lost.

Please do not bring pets, skates or roller blades, skateboards, bicycles, barbecue grills, large coolers, glass bottles or containers, weapons, tents, awning, or cooking equipment to the air show.  Small personal coolers, strollers, and small wagons are allowed.  Pedestrians and bicyclists will not be allowed to enter the basedue to safety concerns with the large volume of traffic.  Drivers need to ensure they have proper identification including driver's license, current vehicle registration, and proof of vehicle insurance. 

Motorcyclists wanting to drive into the base for parking must adhere to the base regulations for safety equipment and apparel, which include:  a Department of Transportation approved helmet and goggles, or helmet with faceshield in the down position.  Riders must wear long pants and a long sleeved shirt or jacket.  Each rider must wear full-fingered gloves or mittens.  Sturdy footwear is mandatory.  

Chesterfield Township police will close Rosso Highway (M-59) between the east side of Interstate 94 to Kehrig, west of Jefferson Avenue from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, and 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  Also, the eastbound I-94 exit ramp to eastbound M-59, will be closed during thos times to coincide with the air show.  Delays can be expected in the area of Selfridge Air National Guard Base on 21 Mile Road, Gratiot Avenue between 21 Mile and Mt. Clemens, and I-94 between North River Road exit 237 and 21 Mile Road exit 241.
