Civilian aircraft makes emergency landing at Selfridge Published March 12, 2008 SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich. -- A Northwest Mesaba Airlink flight made an emergency landing Selfridge Air National Guard Base Sunday, Oct. 21. The aircraft, a Saab 347, landed safely at the base at approximately 12:20 p.m. The aircraft had previously declared an in-flight emergency with a report of smoke in the cockpit. The aircraft had a total of 31 personnel onboard, passengers and crew. The aircraft's flight had originated in Canada. Michigan Air National Guard Security Forces coordinated with U.S. Customs and Border Protection to arrange for Customs screening of the passengers and crew, along with their luggage.
