Golf Gate to Close for Construction
SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich. --
The Golf Gate on North River Road will close 23 December until further notice, due to a construction project. In the interim the Joy Gate on the west side of Selfridge Air National Guard Base will open on 26 December and will operate daily 0530-2130, closing on federal holidays.
Only military ID card-holding members, family members and retirees, are allowed to use the Joy Gate. Visitors and deliveries must still use the Selfridge Main Gate on Rosso Highway at Jefferson.
Comprised of approximately 1,600 personnel and flying both the A-10 Thunderbolt II and the KC-135 Stratotanker, the 127th Wing supports Air Mobility Command, Air Combat Command and Air Force Special Operation Command by providing highly-skilled Airmen to missions domestically and overseas. The 127th Wing is the host unit at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, which marked its 96th year of continuous military air operations in 2013.
