During the jump, the Soldiers and Airmen are able to control their canopy to enable them to land in a targeted location. The Soldiers and Airmen spent a day conducting joint airborne operations, with each individual making several parachute jumps during the day. Gen Johns' visit

During Gen. Johns' visit to Selfridge Air National Guard Base Aug. 23-24, 2012, he had the opportunity to recognize a few 127th Wing Airmen for their significant contributions to Air Mobility Command missions. One group lauded was the crew of "Elite 51" who, after refueling an F-18 over Southwest Asia, escorted the jet to safety after it lost operation of one of its engines.
