  • 127th Wing cancels 2020 Open House, Air Show

    With uncertainty of the spreading Coronavirus, the 2020 Selfridge International Open House and Air Show has been canceled. “This was truly a disheartening decision to make,” said Brig. Gen. Rolf Mammen, 127th Wing Commander. “However, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of our personnel and Michigan communities made this a prudent choice.” The air show, which featured the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, was scheduled for June 6-7, 2020.
  • MIANG welcomes newest general officer to ranks

    The Michigan Air National Guard welcomed the newest general officer to its ranks May 4, 2019, during a formal promotion ceremony for Brig. Gen. Rolf E. Mammen held at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Mammen is stepping into the role of commanding officer of both the 127th Wing and Selfridge Air National Guard Base, providing command and control of five groups, two flying missions and an installation with approximately 47 tenant organizations, including every branch of the military and Department of Homeland Security.
  • Airmen First, Excellence Follows: Mammen to take command of Selfridge and 127th Wing

    Michigan Air National Guard Col. Rolf E. Mammen will take command of the 127th Wing and Selfridge Air National Guard Base in a ceremony scheduled to be held May 4, 2019, at Selfridge Air National Guard Base near Mount Clemens, Michigan. The command is currently held by Brig. Gen. John D. “Odie” Slocum, who is approaching his fifth year of the normally three-year command.
  • Hometown Heroes Program supports families of deployed Airmen

    Imagine waking up to a bitterly cold house days after your spouse deploys halfway around the world and the governor declares a state of emergency due to record cold temperatures. The furnace quit working, you’re alone, and the children are cold. What do you do? Luckily, leadership of the 127th Wing is all too familiar with the overwhelming stress taken on by military spouses in the wake of a deployment and they’re standing by to help! To provide emergency support, the Wing has partnered with military, state, and local community organizations to establish a unique resource for spouses of deployed service members which is locally referred to as the Hometown Hero Hotline.
  • Selfridge Airman hailed as hero

    Senior Airman Tamara Davie used the first aid buddy care skills she learned as a member of the Michigan Air National Guard to respond quickly to calls for help while working at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., Jan. 22. A woman had fallen, hitting her head. She was bleeding and vomiting. The woman, the mother of another Airman, recovered thanks to Davie's quick response. Davie, a Command Support Staff journeyman with the 127th Maintenance Group at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., was making her way to her room at the MacDill Inn on the base after closing out another day on her two-week training mission during Exercise Emerald Warrior with the 127th and its A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft. Then she heard the frantic cries for help from another guest at the on-base hotel. The Airman immediately jumped into action.

    On only his third day of duty as Michigan’s adjutant general, Brig. Gen. Paul Rogers, visited Selfridge today, and along with Maj. Gen. Leonard Isabelle, assistant adjutant general, and Brig. Gen. John D. Slocum, 127th Wing commander, briefly addressed a group of Airmen set to deploy overseas.
  • Slocum Outlines 2019 Areas of Emphasis

    The 127th Wing is focusing on four areas of emphasis for 2019. They are: • Expeditionary Readiness & Lethality • Focus on the Drill-Status Guardsman • Joint Service Operations • Unconstrained Innovation The areas of emphasis were outlined by Brig. Gen. John D. Slocum, the 127th Wing commander, during the annual 127th Wing Awards Ceremony in December. By tradition, the wing commander forecasts the year ahead in the annual awards ceremony, typically held the final drill weekend of the calendar year.
  • Krasovic, McDow named to leadership posts at Selfridge

    The 127th Wing has a new vice wing commander and a new command chief master sergeant. Col. Stanley Krasovic Jr. was named the Wing’s vice commander by Brig. Gen. John D. Slocum, the wing commander, and will assume the position in January 2019. Chief Master Sgt. Danny McDow was named the Wing’s command chief and assumed the position in December 2018.
  • 127TH WING AWARDS 2018 TOP PERFORMERS

    Command staff and approximately 1,500 members of the 127th Wing convened to announce this year’s Outstanding Airmen of the Year winners on December 1, 2018. The six winners, representing the Wing’s top individual members and groups, were selected from a pool of 21 nominees and four teams in five categories. Final award recipient decisions were based on superior leadership, job performance and overall achievement.
  • 127th Wing welcomes Eisenhower to SANGB

    SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich.-- Members of the 127th Wing hosted approximately 140 distinguished guests and civic leaders during a key-passing ceremony for Selfridge Air National Guard Base’s newest tenant organization on November 14, 2018. The “Eisenhower Veteran Care Transition Center” will provide a residential rehabilitation and reintegration program, ultimately capable of servicing 42 veteran patients suffering from service-related conditions, specifically post-traumatic stress disorder, mild-to-moderate traumatic brain injury or chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
