Selfridge traffic patterns changed

Drivers on the grounds of Selfridge Air National Guard Base should be watchful of new traffic patterns.

Birch and Wagner Avenues, the one-way streets on either side of the Base Dining Facility, have changed direction in order to better accommodate ongoing Air Force missions at the base.  This weekend, the 127th Wing will be exercising an alert mission and road closures in this area are anticipated.

Due to the possibility of high speed, convoy travel, the one-way street east of the dining facility (Wagner St., now southbound), will be closed to non exercise vehicles. Wilbur Wright will be completely closed between Birch St. and Wagner St. There will also be no parking allowed on Wilbur Wright north of Base Operations (Building 50) during this time.

Normal operations resume on Monday; however, the change in direction for Birch and Wagner Avenues will remain in effect at this time.

Those driving on Selfridge also must adhere to the base policy which prohibits the use of cellular devices without hands free capability while driving on the installation. Drivers can be ticketed for this offense which also includes texting while operating a motor vehicle.
